Akash Bhowmick is committed to making akashbhowmick.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology, keyboard-only navigation, or browse with reduced motion. This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
Measures in place
- Semantic landmark structure (header, nav, main, footer) for screen-reader navigation
- A skip-to-content link for keyboard users
- Full keyboard support, including the mobile menu and the project detail dialog, which traps focus, closes on Escape, and returns focus to where you were
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element
- Text and UI color contrast checked against WCAG AA thresholds
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images
- Form fields with real labels, and errors that are announced to screen readers and tied to their field
prefers-reduced-motionis respected — animations and transitions are minimized if your system requests it- Touch targets sized for comfortable use on mobile
Known limitations
This is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time certification. Some areas — full automated audit coverage (Lighthouse/axe), testing on assistive technologies beyond what's been manually checked, and real-device testing on iOS Safari — are still in progress. If you encounter something that doesn't work well with your assistive technology, please report it using the contact below and it will be addressed.
